Library Strategic Plan 2017-22


Introduction:
Inaya Medical College is considered one of the pioneers’ private health care colleges that grants a bachelor degree in the science of health care specialties. The colleges apply all rules and regulations that relate to private colleges as well as Executive rules, technical and administrative procedures that were stated by the ministry of education in the Kingdom. All Scientific studies regarding manpower in the health care fields and according to the minutes of manpower council, it has been made clear that there is a disparate need in the Saudi labour market to rehabilitate a health care staff of various health care specialties and various qualifications. As Governmental health care colleges were crowded by applicants to join these health care specialties, many were compelled to travel outside the Kingdom in order to study these specialties, and some are even deprived from studying such specialties.

Therefore, Inaya Medical college Will pay, by God will, all the efforts to accept most of these applicants and to establish mutual partnerships with other medical colleges and to train the students in governmental and other private hospitals to graduate a highly qualified staff in all health care specialties, exchange expertise, share in steering the scientific research inside and outside the Kingdom, and to participate in educating health care programs in the society. In addition to that, the colleges will hold Strategic partnerships with the best American universities to exchange scientific and educational expertise and to train its students in these universities.

Academic plans have been prepared in the colleges to fulfill all the requisites of the health care education and to get benefit of the most recent developments of the health care curriculum that is implemented in most of health care colleges in developed countries through recent multi technical means, such as e learning.

Inaya Medical College’s 2022 Strategic Plan sets a motivated vision for the institution: “IMC aspires to be a leader in applied medical sciences, health care education and research”. In addition to a strategic interrelated goals support that vision, providing a framework for extent learning, teaching, research, and community engagement and partnership. Inaya Medical College library collections is gradually grown and improved in the past three years. The library currently provide its patrons with access to printed and electronic resource materials During the next five years the college will place emphasis on enhancing library, infrastructure, collections, and services.

Planning Process
Inaya Medical College Library Strategic Plan 2017-22, was developed based on IMC institutional Strategic Plan 2017-22, which emphasized in its strategic goal 3.1 “Strategic Goal 1.3 - Provide integrated academic resources for student support and engagement”. In April 2016, Library committee began the planning process. They did research on current professional literature, higher education institutions libraries websites to analyze recent libraries and information provision and services trends. The also reviewed IMC institution and Quality strategic plan 2017-22, library users’ surveys. They further did Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis and benchmarked with other libraries colleges. In addition to interviewed students, faculty, staff, and administrators to gain comprehensive view on issues of important pertaining to libraries and information services. The library committee met several times with the College dean, vice deans, head of departments, and library director to discuss priorities. The library strategic plan combines all analyses, assessment and interviews results from all sources to devise the next five years strategic IMC library.

MISSION
IMC library acquire, organize, manage and provide students, faculty, and staff with effective and equitable access to specialized collections, facilities, and services to respond to the user’s information literate and promote excellence in learning, teaching, and research.

VISION
IMC library aspires to become an advanced center for the dissemination of modern information and knowledge to achieve college educational and research objectives.

SO 1: Strengthen its library system and infrastructure

SAI 2.3: Improve user information and learning resources awareness.
SAI 2.4: Provide equal access for all users including users with disabilities.
SAI 2.5: Support the acquisition of state of the art digital equipment to increase users’ access.
SAI 2.6: Increase subscriptions and access to research databases and specialized information networking.

SO 3: Maintaining high-qualified librarian and information specialists with IT Skills.
SAI 3.1: Recruiting professional librarians and staff to achieve IMC mission.
SAI 3.2: Establish training programs to enhance employees' skills and abilities to meet job requirements

SAI 4.1: Conduct regular meetings between library and IMC community to identify intersecting interests.
SAI 4.2: Establish and strengthen partnership between library and academic programs.
SAI 4.3: Cooperate with other academic libraries nationally and internationally in services such as interlibrary loan.
